Actress Kim Chiu has moved forward with legal action against her sister, Lakambini Chiu, by filing a qualified theft case after uncovering significant financial discrepancies within one of their business partnerships.
On December 2, Kim, along with her legal counsel, lodged the complaint at the Quezon City prosecutor’s office. Images from the event feature her providing a sworn declaration at the Department of Justice building.
In an emotional declaration, Kim conveyed that making this decision was one of the most difficult choices she has faced. She mentioned that a thorough review of the situation prompted her to act, asserting that the action was vital to protect not only her business but also the well-being of the employees aligned with it.
Her legal team has withheld additional information concerning the complaint's specifics or the business in question.
The strain between the sisters became evident earlier this year, with fans observing that they had unfollowed each other on social media amid speculations of a business fallout. Earlier in 2023, Lakambini publicly acknowledged Kim's support during a personal health struggle, underscoring their previous close relationship.
