Six foreign nationals have been charged in absentia by the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court in connection with an armed robbery at a luxury condominium in the Jalan Ampang area. The case relates to an incident in which cash, jewellery and high-value watches were reportedly taken from a residential unit. According to Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus, the six individuals face charges under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code. The charges relate to gang robbery and armed robbery. The reported losses from the incident have been estimated at RM2.91 million. The suspects were not present in court when the charges were brought against them. Authorities are now taking steps to locate them, with the prosecution applying for arrest warrants. If convicted under the relevant provisions, the accused could face a prison sentence of up to 20 years as well as whipping.

Masked Men Entered Pavilion Embassy Unit

The reported incident took place on Sept 7 at Pavilion Embassy, a luxury residential development located along Jalan Ampang in Kuala Lumpur. Police said a group of masked men entered a residential unit between approximately 2pm and 3pm. The individuals were reportedly wearing gloves and carrying knives when they entered the property. The circumstances described in the case indicate that the suspects targeted valuable belongings inside the residence. They allegedly left the unit after taking cash, jewellery and several luxury watches. The reported value of the losses makes the incident a significant luxury condo robbery case in Kuala Lumpur. In addition to the valuables allegedly taken, a mobile phone inside the residence was reportedly damaged. The suspects also allegedly took the passport belonging to a 28-year-old Chinese national.

Police Seek Arrest Warrants For Six Accused

Following the court proceedings, prosecutors have applied for arrest warrants against the six accused. The warrants are intended to assist authorities in bringing the suspects before the court so that the legal proceedings can continue. Fadil Marsus said police are also preparing to seek an Interpol Red Notice for the suspects. Such an international alert can assist law enforcement agencies in identifying and locating wanted individuals across participating jurisdictions. The planned international cooperation is particularly relevant because the six accused are foreigners and were charged in their absence. Authorities are continuing efforts to determine their whereabouts and secure their arrest. For the six accused in this case, the immediate legal step remains the issuance of arrest warrants by the Malaysian court.
