Kriti Sanon Discusses Her Portrayal in Tere Ishk Mein

Kriti Sanon Discusses Her Portrayal in Tere Ishk Mein

Post by : Maya Rahman

Kriti Sanon recently starred alongside Dhanush in Aanand L. Rai’s romantic drama Tere Ishk Mein, which premiered in theaters last month. The film garnered favorable reviews, with both actors earning accolades for their portrayals. Kriti plays Mukti Beniwal, a character that has sparked considerable dialogue among viewers.

In a recent interview, Kriti revealed that her initial reaction to Mukti was less than favorable. After reading the script, she perceived the character as distinctly negative and selfish, prompting her to reach out to director Aanand L. Rai. She candidly expressed her discomfort and anxiety regarding the role.

However, Kriti noted that the director envisioned Mukti in a much different light. Aanand L. Rai saw layers of vulnerability, empathy, and emotional depth that she hadn’t fully grasped from the script. Each discussion about the scenes unveiled a more profound interpretation of her character than she initially recognized.

Kriti confessed that this was the only role for which she did not utilize her usual preparation methods. She explored and developed her character throughout the filming process, eventually appreciating Mukti’s flaws. She found it invigorating to portray someone so imperfect and emotionally nuanced.

Post-release, some viewers labeled Mukti as “toxic” or a “red flag.” In response, Kriti stated that such discussions are crucial; human behavior is seldom clear-cut. She emphasized that individuals err for a variety of reasons and that a character should be evaluated with empathy instead of sweeping labels.
