Lebanese intelligence units recovered a Kuwaiti national who had been abducted earlier this month, detaining three people tied to the incident and seizing the car used in the abduction.
Officials said the Directorate of Intelligence executed the operation in Saadnayel, in the Zahle district of eastern Lebanon, following days of methodical surveillance and tracking. The Kuwaiti, taken on November 1, was found unharmed.
Authorities reported that one suspect opened fire at intelligence officers during the arrests, prompting a proportionate security response. Despite the exchange of shots, security forces confirmed there were no injuries.
The three suspects — identified as two Lebanese nationals and one Syrian citizen — and the recovered vehicle have been transferred to judicial authorities as the probe continues.
Security officials noted the operation underscores Lebanon’s stepped-up measures against organised crime and its efforts to safeguard foreign residents and visitors.
Investigations are ongoing to determine whether the detainees are linked to a broader kidnapping ring, reflecting a regional pattern where swift intelligence-led action has prevented several high-profile abductions.
