Heavy rains and thunderstorms swept through many parts of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday evening, leading to two tragic incidents where lightning claimed the lives of four children and injured three others.
The first incident took place in Sarai Akil, located in the Kaushambi district. According to the police, four children had gone out to graze goats when a sudden lightning strike hit them. The villagers quickly rushed the children to the hospital. Sadly, two of the children were declared dead, while the other two are still in critical condition and are receiving treatment.
The second lightning strike happened in Tara Ka Pura village, under Chitrakoot district, where a group of children were herding buffaloes in the fields. Lightning struck again. One child died immediately at the scene, while another passed away later at the district hospital. A third child is currently under treatment and remains seriously injured.
These heartbreaking incidents come just a few days after 25 people were killed by lightning across 14 different districts in the state. With the monsoon season bringing unpredictable and dangerous weather, authorities are urging everyone to take extra precautions and remain indoors during thunderstorms.
Local police and village leaders have offered condolences to the families affected and are reminding citizens to stay away from open fields, trees, and water bodies during lightning activity.
Uttar Pradesh continues to face strong monsoon conditions. Let’s all take care and help keep each other safe.
