Madhuri Dixit Opens Up About Love Story With Dr Shriram Nene

Madhuri Dixit Opens Up About Love Story With Dr Shriram Nene

Post by : Rameen Ariff

Madhuri Dixit, one of India’s most celebrated actors, recently opened up about her enduring love story with her husband, Dr. Shriram Nene, offering fans a rare and heartfelt glimpse into how their relationship blossomed. Speaking on a popular podcast hosted by Ranveer Allahabadia, Madhuri revealed that while friends often tried to set her up with potential partners, she was deeply focused on her career and cautious about choosing the right person. “My friends would always try to set me up but I loved my career. And I thought if I find the wrong man, all the fun of my life would be gone. I never thought of a fairy tale,” Madhuri said candidly, reflecting her grounded approach to love.

Despite the attempts by friends, Madhuri met Dr. Shriram Nene, and the connection was instant and genuine. Married since October 17, 1999, the couple shares two sons, Arin and Ryan, and have successfully balanced family life with their respective professional commitments. Madhuri credited the strength of their relationship to mutual respect, encouragement, and shared positivity. She described their bond as a unique combination of art and science, highlighting their common interest in promoting the well-being and good health of others. “I am lucky I met such a romantic guy. There should be mutual respect, encouragement, and positivity that always help me feel more. Our relationship is a great combination of art and science. We intersect at this wanting for people's good health,” she explained.

Madhuri also shared some intimate details about Dr. Nene’s support for her creative pursuits. During the COVID lockdown, Dr. Nene went above and beyond to assist Madhuri in shooting her music video, Candle, even learning camera techniques to ensure it turned out perfectly. Madhuri fondly praised his qualities, noting his intelligence, caring nature, and dedication to his patients. “When he speaks about his patients, the way he is fighting for them, his bedside manner is amazing. He is naturally very caring, well-read, intelligent, and even has an interest in photography. My husband and I are the biggest blessings in each other's lives. My husband is a bigger blessing than my career,” she said, emphasizing how much her personal life has enriched her professional success.

Their love story began in a modern, realistic manner rather than an arranged setup. Madhuri clarified that although her brother introduced them, they dated for six months before deciding to marry. The couple then moved to the United States, building a quiet, family-oriented life away from the spotlight. They welcomed their sons in 2003 and 2005 and returned to Mumbai in 2011, as Madhuri resumed her career in Indian cinema and television. Over the years, they have managed to balance professional commitments while remaining deeply rooted in family life, demonstrating a partnership built on trust, mutual admiration, and shared values.

On the professional front, Madhuri Dixit is making a notable return with a gripping new role in Mrs Deshpande, a psychological thriller series directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. In this series, she portrays a convicted serial killer serving a 25-year sentence, who is unexpectedly asked by the police to help catch a copycat murderer. The show is an Indian adaptation of the French thriller La Mante and blends suspense, psychological drama, secrets, and moral ambiguity. Scheduled to premiere on JioHotstar on 19 December 2025, Mrs Deshpande marks an exciting new chapter in Madhuri’s illustrious career.

Through her interview, Madhuri Dixit not only shared the story of her loving marriage but also offered insights into the importance of finding a partner with whom one shares deep compatibility, respect, and shared goals, showing that true love and a successful career can coexist harmoniously.
