In a significant development for urban transportation, Moscow's Mayor Sergei Sobyanin has inaugurated the T2 tram line, recognized as the longest tram route globally at 33 kilometers.
The T2 line effectively links the southern and eastern regions of the city, stretching from Chertanovskaya to Novogireevo station, part of the Moscow Central Diameter Line 4 (MCD-4).
This new tram route improves daily commutes for over two million residents, running through 13 densely populated areas and encompassing 79 well-placed stops.
While the full trip on the T2 line takes more than two hours due to its extensive coverage, city officials are confident that it will alleviate traffic and foster better connections among major urban zones.
The T2 tram line debut underscores Moscow’s commitment to enhancing its public transport infrastructure, providing sustainable travel choices for its expanding populace.
