Red Fort Bomber Video Calls Suicide Bombing a 'Misunderstood Concept'

Red Fort Bomber Video Calls Suicide Bombing a 'Misunderstood Concept'

Post by : Rameen Ariff

A shocking new video featuring Dr. Umar un Nabi, the alleged driver behind the tragic Red Fort explosion that claimed over 10 lives, has emerged. This footage adds alarming context to the extremist ideologies that may have spurred this heinous act. Believed to have been recorded prior to November 10, Nabi discusses what he dubs the “misunderstood” nature of suicide bombings, labeling them as “martyrdom operations.”

In the clip, Nabi is seen alone in a room, delivering an extensive rationale for his beliefs. He asserts that the term suicide bombing is inaccurately coined, advocating that it should instead be referred to as “martyrdom operation.”

He states, “One of the major misconceptions is what people call suicide bombing. It is actually a martyrdom operation. Many arguments against it are rooted in misunderstanding. A martyrdom operation involves an individual believing in a certain death at a specific place and time.”

The resurgence of this clip holds heightened relevance as investigators delve deeper into the disturbing incident.

NIA Identifies Suicide Mission Angle

The video surfaced shortly after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) detained another alleged collaborator, Jasir Bilal Wani, believed to have been radicalized by Nabi. The NIA claims both individuals had been plotting coordinated suicide missions across India for over a year.

In a notable shift, the NIA referred to Nabi as a “suicide bomber” for the first time while announcing Wani's arrest, labeling the vehicle involved—a Hyundai i20—as a “vehicle-borne IED,” thereby indicating the explosion was intentional, not accidental.

Details of the November 10 Incident

The devastating explosion occurred at 6:52 PM near the Red Fort when the Hyundai i20 unexpectedly erupted in flames at a traffic signal. The car, which had multiple previous owners and was equipped with a CNG tank, detonated violently, killing 11 individuals.

Forensic evidence has confirmed that Umar un Nabi was behind the wheel during the explosion, reinforcing suspicions of a planned suicide attack.

Ongoing Investigation Into Broader Terror Conspiracy

The Delhi Police Special Cell has initiated a parallel investigation to unveil the larger network behind the attack. They are exploring key questions such as:

  • The origin of the explosives used in the attack

  • Whether further vehicles were being prepared for similar operations

  • Connections to the 2019 Pulwama suicide bombing

Sources suggest that the network may have received guidance or support from handlers based outside of India.

Impact of the Video Raises Concerns

Authorities believe that the newly released video is a vital piece of evidence. It not only reveals Umar un Nabi's radical mindset but also indicates premeditated intent for the attack.

This video may serve either as a personal manifesto or a component of a broader propaganda strategy aimed at recruitment and ideological justification.

Future Investigative Steps

Investigators are now scrutinizing digital devices and communication patterns linked with the accused to map the full scope of the conspiracy. Security officials anticipate that further arrests are likely as the investigation continues.

The emergence of this video has raised alarms about the potential resurgence of suicide-style terror operations, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced vigilance and more robust counterterrorism measures.
