Manila: The Philippine presidency emphatically countered allegations made by Senator Imee Marcos, the estranged sister of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., concerning his supposed struggles with illicit drug use. The office referred to the accusations as “unfounded” and cautioned the public to disregard unsubstantiated family claims.
During an anti-corruption rally on Monday, Senator Imee claimed her brother has been involved with drugs since their youth, asserting a link to what she termed a “flood of corruption” plaguing the nation. However, she failed to provide any supportive evidence for her statements.
In retaliation, the president’s spokesperson highlighted that such assertions lack factual basis and should not divert attention from the country’s critical governance issues. “These unverified allegations arise from personal family matters.
