Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) were held to a dramatic 3-3 draw by Strasbourg at the Parc des Princes on Friday, but a late goal from midfielder Senny Mayulu ensured the hosts remained top of Ligue 1. PSG’s clash against Strasbourg provided fans with a rollercoaster of emotions as the home side raced ahead early, lost the lead, and fought back to snatch a point in a thrilling encounter. Despite the draw, PSG remain on 17 points at the summit of the Ligue 1 standings, just one point clear of Strasbourg, while Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais trail on 15 points with a game in hand.
PSG got off to a flying start, breaking the deadlock in just the sixth minute. Young striker Bradley Barcola finished expertly from close range after being set up by a precise through ball. The early goal gave PSG fans hope of a comfortable evening, but Strasbourg responded with determination. Joaquin Panichelli equalized for the visitors in the 26th minute with a powerful header, showcasing Strasbourg’s attacking threat. Four minutes before halftime, Diego Moreira put Strasbourg ahead, leaving PSG trailing 2-1 at the break in a Ligue 1 match that was quickly turning into a test of their resilience.
The second half saw PSG chasing the game, while Strasbourg continued to threaten on the counterattack. Panichelli scored his second of the match just four minutes after the restart, calmly slotting home from a low cross with PSG’s defense caught flat-footed. PSG were struggling to regain control in the Ligue 1 clash, but the home side’s determination never wavered. Goncalo Ramos then offered a glimmer of hope for PSG, converting a penalty in the 58th minute after visiting goalkeeper Mike Penders brought down Desire Doue in the box. The goal reignited PSG’s attacking momentum and set up a tense finish in the Ligue 1 showdown.
PSG continued pressing for an equalizer, and their persistence paid off in the 79th minute. Senny Mayulu, PSG’s midfielder, headed in a rebound after initially missing from close range, securing a dramatic 3-3 draw. Mayulu’s goal not only rescued a crucial point for PSG but also demonstrated the team’s fighting spirit under pressure. Strasbourg had looked set to claim a sensational victory away from home, but PSG’s relentless pressure in the latter stages ensured they maintained their position at the top of Ligue 1.
The draw leaves PSG with 17 points, keeping them narrowly ahead of Strasbourg in the Ligue 1 table. Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais remain on 15 points, with both clubs holding games in hand, keeping the title race competitive. PSG will be looking to turn their attacking dominance into consistent results as the Ligue 1 season progresses, while Strasbourg’s performance sends a message to the rest of the league about their ability to challenge the top teams. Fans can expect more drama and thrilling football as PSG continues their pursuit of Ligue 1 glory.
