World number one Aryna Sabalenka continued her dominant Grand Slam run as she booked a place in the semi-finals, keeping her dream alive for a third straight title appearance. The two-time champion, who lifted the trophy in 2023 and 2024 and finished runner-up last year, will now face either Coco Gauff or Elina Svitolina for a spot in Saturday’s final.
Sabalenka made an explosive start to the quarter-final, racing to a 3-0 lead in the opening set and immediately putting pressure on teenage opponent Jovic. Despite the early setback, Jovic showed composure beyond her years, fighting hard to hold serve in the fourth game and gradually settling into the contest.
Playing her first-ever Grand Slam quarter-final, the teenager relied on her speed and court coverage to trouble the experienced Belarusian. She forced Sabalenka into longer rallies and moments of frustration, but the world number one stayed patient and eventually wrapped up the first set in just under an hour.
The second set saw Sabalenka shift into a higher gear. She broke serve in the opening game with a stunning cross-court winner and never looked back. Using her power and precision, the 27-year-old controlled the baseline exchanges and closed out the match in commanding fashion.
With this victory, Sabalenka once again underlined why she remains the player to beat, moving one step closer to another Grand Slam final and a possible historic title run.
