Shraddha Kapoor has addressed the public concern following reports on November 22 that she injured herself while shooting for her upcoming film Eetha. In a candid exchange with her fans on Instagram, she confirmed a muscle tear but reassured that rest will enable her recovery. This update comes after days of speculation due to the lack of an official statement from the film’s production team.
During an Instagram Ask Me Anything session, Shraddha responded to a fan's inquiry regarding her injury. She posted a short video showing her left leg in plaster, maintaining her signature humor. She humorously stated that she’s been “moving around like a terminator,” clarifying that the injury is just a muscle tear, which isn’t serious. She emphasized that with proper rest and medical care, she’ll be back to work shortly.
In addition to the health update, Shraddha discussed her current and upcoming projects. She mentioned completing a film whose details she cannot disclose yet, but confirmed that she is actively filming Eetha, directed by her boyfriend Rahul Mody. She described Eetha as centered on the start-up world, exploring the pressures and relentless hustle of contemporary life. Emphasizing her desire for challenging roles, she noted that she is selectively choosing projects that showcase her character's depth and agency. Now, she is taking the time to carefully evaluate scripts, looking for opportunities that extend her capabilities as an actress.
A source from the film’s production elaborated on the circumstances leading to the injury. Shraddha was performing a Lavani dance sequence, a demanding folk dance characterized by energetic steps, swift turns, and rhythmic movements. The track, composed by renowned duo Ajay–Atul, involved rapid, continuous steps synchronized with the dholki's beats. For this performance, she wore a heavy traditional Nauvari saree adorned with elaborate jewelry, which restricted her movements.
In preparation for her role as a youthful Vithabai, Shraddha reportedly gained over 15 kilos to authenticate her character’s portrayal. The fusion of intense choreography, substantial attire, and abrupt weight shifts led to the injury. During a fast-paced dance step, she unknowingly put all her weight on her left foot, causing a misstep that resulted in a muscle tear, halting her shooting schedule.
Despite the setback, insiders note that Shraddha remains optimistic and focused. The film crew is adjusting the shooting schedule, allowing her ample time to heal without pressure. Medical professionals have prescribed adequate rest, limited movement, and physiotherapy. Known for her commitment and disciplined approach, Shraddha is already adhering to her recovery process while keeping her fans updated via social media.
Her candidness about her injury and reflections on her career have resonated well with fans, who have inundated her social media with messages wishing her a speedy recovery and expressing anticipation for Eetha, which signifies a pivotal moment in her career, thanks to its unique narrative and her evolving storytelling approach.
