Renowned artist Smokey Robinson is confronting fresh sexual assault allegations from two former staff members, surfacing just six months post a $50 million lawsuit introduced by four women. The new plaintiffs, named John Doe 1 and Jane Doe 5, assert that Robinson attempted to compel them into inappropriate contact.
Jane Doe 5 recounted her experiences of persistent harassment during her time as a housekeeper for Robinson from 2005 to 2011, claiming he requested her presence in the bathroom while he bathed to scrub his back. Meanwhile, John Doe 1, who serviced the Robinsons’ vehicles starting in 2013, alleged that Robinson confronted him in just his underwear and exhibited unacceptable conduct. He reported that the harassment resulted in feelings of humiliation, emotional turmoil, and ongoing safety concerns.
Every accuser asserted that they ultimately resigned due to the mistreatment and were apprehensive about reporting the incidents due to fears of retaliation, public disgrace, and immigration dilemmas. The latest allegations reflect those in the original legal action, highlighting similar environments, timing, and behaviors.
Robinson’s attorney, Christopher Frost, refuted the allegations, labeling the lawsuit as “a coordinated greedy effort to extract finances from an 85-year-old icon.” A court hearing concerning the revision of the complaint is slated for January 6, 2026. Robinson is currently under investigation by the Special Victims Bureau for sexual assault.
