In response to increasing passenger demand, SpiceJet has announced plans to enhance its daily flight operations by adding up to 100 extra flights during the current winter schedule, subject to regulatory green lights. This expansion aims to improve connectivity during the peak holiday season when travel volume is significantly high. Following approval, these extra flights will not only cater to market growth but also elevate passenger convenience across several key domestic and international routes.
The airline has ramped up its fleet in the past couple of months, incorporating 17 aircraft through a mix of damp leases and the reactivation of previously grounded planes. This expanded fleet grants SpiceJet the flexibility needed to increase flights on popular routes and enhance network resilience. A spokesperson highlighted the commitment to adding aircraft, maximizing usage, and improving connectivity via meticulous planning.
Recently, SpiceJet added five new Boeing 737 aircraft to its roster, including a Boeing 737 MAX, bringing the monthly total to 15 new planes. This includes 14 damp-leased aircraft (two of which are 737 MAX) and one reactivated grounded airline. All five new aircraft have begun commercial operations, significantly bettering travel options on both domestic and international legs.
Thanks to these enhancements, SpiceJet's daily operations surged from 100 flights as of September 30, 2025, to 176 flights per day. The airline is keen on continuing fleet expansion, optimizing Boeing aircraft utilization, and ensuring that passengers have smooth travel choices across India. This swift growth highlights SpiceJet's dedication to addressing rising demand while improving service quality during the bustling winter period.
