Rajamouli Lauds James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash in First Review

Rajamouli Lauds James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash in First Review

Post by : Saif Rahman

Celebrated Indian director SS Rajamouli, renowned for his blockbuster films, has shared his inaugural impressions of James Cameron’s latest offering, Avatar: Fire and Ash. During a virtual event with Cameron aimed at promoting the film, Rajamouli revealed he had the honor of being the first Indian viewer of this much-anticipated sequel, which he termed “an extraordinary experience.”

In his commendation, Rajamouli emphasized the film’s stunning visuals and intricate storytelling, saying, “Experiencing Fire and Ash was a delight. Congratulations on crafting such intricate visuals and multifaceted characters. I felt like a child in the theatre, especially with characters like the Wind Traders, the Ash People, and the breathtaking Varang.”

The filmmaker noted the profound emotional resonance of the narrative, particularly through Jake Sully’s character, now fully intertwined with Pandora. Rajamouli remarked on the moral complexities that kept him captivated, stating, “I thought the original had set a high bar; I wondered if it could surpass that. But this installment does so remarkably well.”

He teased viewers with insights into the film's core conflicts, including Jake Sully's confrontations with former military commander Miles Quaritch and the tension with Neytiri and Varang. “Two compelling conflicts shine through: that between Jake and Miles, as well as Neytiri and Varang. In the original, I despised Miles, but in Fire and Ash, I find myself conflicted—I want to love him but cannot fully do so. The dialogue between Jake and Miles is exceptionally crafted, filled with depth,” he shared.

Set to be a visual spectacle and emotional rollercoaster, Avatar: Fire and Ash is the third entry in the renowned franchise, following Avatar (2009) and Avatar: The Way of Water (2022). The film debuted at the Dolby Theatre on December 1, 2025, and is slated for theatrical release on December 19. Rajamouli’s enthusiastic endorsement only stokes the excitement among fans in India and worldwide, eager to delve back into the mesmerizing world of Pandora.
