Tere Ishk Mein, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, has had a remarkable debut at the Indian box office, emerging as one of the standout openers this season. While a typical dip was observed on Monday, the film comfortably crossed the ₹60-crore milestone within just four days of its release, indicating robust audience interest and consistent appeal across both urban and rural markets. Estimated earnings show the film accumulated ₹8.25 crore on Monday, rounding the total to ₹60.25 crore, following an outstanding opening weekend that totaled ₹16 crore on day one, ₹17 crore on Saturday, and a noteworthy ₹18.75 crore on Sunday due to positive audience feedback.
One of the film's notable features is its performance across diverse markets. It has thrived in major metropolitan areas like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai, where viewers resonated deeply with its emotional themes and musical score. Meanwhile, its success in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, usually less engaged with romantic dramas, played a key role in its swift approach to the ₹50-crore mark.
Industry analysts have pointed out that achieving ₹50 crore within the first weekend establishes a strong foundation for Tere Ishk Mein. However, the film's endurance will depend on its weekday revenues. The slight decline on Monday is commonly seen in this genre, but its performance from Tuesday to Thursday will indicate whether it can maintain traction or face a significant downturn. As competition looms with the imminent release of Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar, which is expected to capture considerable screen space, the upcoming weekend will be vital for the film's longevity.
This marks the third collaboration between Dhanush and director Anand L. Rai, following acclaimed films Raanjhanaa and Atrangi Re, known for their emotional depth. Anticipation was high leading up to the release, fueled by a compelling trailer showcasing a complex love story rooted in intense emotions—an appealing theme gaining traction in Hindi cinema. The film's standout soundtrack has also played a crucial role in generating buzz and drawing audiences to theaters.
While critics and viewers have varied opinions about the film, praising the performances of Dhanush and Kriti Sanon for their emotional depth, the narrative has faced mixed feedback. Some appreciated the intense emotional struggles, while others criticized it for being overly melodramatic and unbalanced. Despite these differing perspectives, the film's commercial success suggests it has resonated well with its intended audience, particularly those captivated by passionate love tales.
With an impressive opening behind it, Tere Ishk Mein steps into a critical phase. The next few weekdays and competition from new releases will shape whether it can maintain a strong performance or face a significant decline post-boost. Currently, the film stands as a solid contender backed by substantial audience enthusiasm across various regions.
