Severe Floods Hit 19 Provinces in Thailand, 22 Dead, Thousands Affected

Post by : Rameen Ariff

Bangkok, October 8, 2025: Severe flooding continues to hit 19 provinces in Thailand, affecting 84 districts, 541 sub-districts, and 3,036 villages, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) reported on Monday.

In total, 109,426 households or 369,724 people have been affected by the floods, with 22 confirmed deaths so far. Fatalities were reported in Phitsanulok (1), Uttaradit (8), Phetchabun (1), Phichit (1), Ayutthaya (8), and Yasothon (3).

Provinces still facing flooding include Uttaradit, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Sukhothai, Phichit, Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Suphan Buri, Ayutthaya, Pathum Thani, Nakhon Pathom, Chaiyaphum, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, Yasothon, and Chachoengsao.

The DDPM is working closely with provincial authorities and has deployed over 790 disaster-relief machines and vehicles from regional centres to 25 provinces. These resources are being used for flood prevention, rescue operations, emergency response, and recovery efforts.

Under government orders, affected households will receive financial aid of 9,000 baht per household during the 2025 rainy season. This decision follows the resolution of the National Disaster Management Committee’s first meeting of 2025 on October 6.

The DDPM has instructed provinces to coordinate with relevant agencies to conduct detailed surveys and prepare lists of affected households, ensuring that relief payments are swift, fair, and comprehensive, following directives from Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.
