The third season of The Family Man had significant expectations. As India’s streaming landscape grows increasingly competitive, crafting a captivating third installment is no easy task. While this season largely succeeds by delivering humor, thrills, and relatable family narratives, it occasionally falls prey to predictability, especially with its reliance on the cliched cliffhanger.
Shrikant Tiwari (Manoj Bajpayee) faces the challenge of managing his turbulent marriage to Suchi (Priyamani) while parenting his sharp-witted children (Ashlesha Thakur and Vedant Sinha). An incident in the North East forces him to flee alongside his family and assistant JK (Sharib Hashmi). With his own agency on his tail, Shrikant must thwart the infamous smuggler and assassin Rukma (Jaideep Ahlawat), who conspires with the international operative Meera (Nimrat Kaur) for a major attack.
The essence of The Family Man remains strong. The balance of humor and suspense sparkles throughout, and the witty exchanges between Shrikant and JK continue to provide entertainment. By allowing the characters to age and delve into more personal experiences, the series stays relatable. Both JK and Zoya (Shreya Dhanwanthary) receive more character depth, while antagonist Rukma is portrayed with complexity—both merciless yet human, enhancing the story’s gray areas.
Manoj Bajpayee shines once again, capturing Shrikant’s struggles and vulnerabilities while maintaining his charm. Jaideep Ahlawat masterfully portrays Rukma, blending menace with humanity. The chemistry between Sharib Hashmi and Bajpayee is a highlight, and Seema Biswas leaves a memorable mark as Prime Minister Basu.
Despite its commendable aspects, the season isn’t without flaws. Some humor seems overly polished for social media, which leads to predictability in certain scenes. The finale surprises with a sudden cliffhanger that denies any real closure—a first for the series. While the show remains entertaining for much of its runtime, the conclusion leaves viewers with an unsatisfied feeling of incompleteness.
Season 3 of The Family Man captivates with its signature blend of humor, suspense, and strong performances. However, moments of predictability and an unresolved cliffhanger hold it back from achieving the satisfaction of its predecessors.
