With remarkable success, the Al Ain Half Marathon 2025 welcomed more than 4,000 participants from diverse age groups and nationalities. Organized by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council in collaboration with ADNOC, the event fostered an inclusive atmosphere, encouraging attendance from across the community and celebrating the essence of sportsmanship. This gathering reinforces the UAE's dedication to promoting health, fitness, and community interaction through sports.
This edition of the marathon included five main race categories, featuring the 21 km Half Marathon, along with 10 km, 5 km, and 2.5 km races. Special categories for families, recreational runners, and People of Determination made it accessible for all experience levels. Organizers ensured that every runner, from novices to elite athletes, could join in safely and with joy.
Over 1,000 athletes participated in the primary 21 km Half Marathon segment. The average age among runners was 31 years, illustrating the event's wide appeal. Youngest participants were infants in the family race, while seniors like Abdulaziz Al Amri, 71, and Anna Russo, 73, showcased the event's inclusive spirit, proving that age is no hindrance to sporting enjoyment.
The Al Ain Half Marathon played a significant role leading up to the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon, set for December 13th. It raised awareness and excitement for the main marathon, solidifying Abu Dhabi's status as a prime destination for international sporting events. This connection emphasizes the importance of regular training, healthy lifestyles, and community involvement to promote active living.
Designed to highlight Al Ain's cultural richness and natural splendor, the marathon route showcased the city's picturesque scenery, merging traditional heritage with modern athletic excellence. Additionally, the event highlighted sustainable community initiatives while promoting camaraderie through sport. Participants and families discovered a celebration that transcended mere running—it was about culture, connection, and collective well-being.
From November 5th to 8th, the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium transformed into a vibrant sports village, complete with live music, delicious food stalls, and family-friendly activities. The festival atmosphere uplifted spirits, ensuring constant entertainment throughout the four-day event.
Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium served as an iconic venue for the marathon. VIP lounges, medical centers, and dedicated areas for elite runners and volunteers showcased the high standards for safety and comfort, enriching the experience for both participants and onlookers. This reflects Abu Dhabi's efficiency in hosting large-scale events with exceptional quality.
Talal Al Hashemi, Executive Director of Events at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, proudly acknowledged the outstanding success of the event. He remarked that the Al Ain Half Marathon aligns with the Council’s goal to promote healthy living and boost sports participation across the community. Al Hashemi emphasized that events like this highlight the UAE's cultural diversity and spirit of inclusion, inviting both locals and expatriates to join in the nation's sports journey.
As the Al Ain Marathon came to a close, anticipation grew for the upcoming ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon in December.
