A major train collision took place early Thursday morning in southern Czech Republic, injuring 42 individuals. The crash occurred between an express train and a passenger train close to Ceske Budejovice, approximately 150 kilometers south of Prague.

The incident unfolded around 05:19 GMT, prompting immediate action from emergency responders who evacuated all passengers from both trains without incident. Preliminary reports reveal that 40 people sustained minor injuries, while two individuals were reported to have more severe wounds.

Rescue teams, including ambulances and firefighting units, swiftly secured the area and provided medical care to those injured. Representatives from the rail operator assured that all passengers had been safely evacuated, yet the precise cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Authorities are currently probing the circumstances surrounding the train collision. Both the rail operator and local officials are collaborating fully, with safety experts reviewing train operations, signaling systems, and track conditions to ascertain the contributing factors.

Witnesses recounted a tumultuous experience, with many feeling shaken due to the sudden nature of the crash. Rail services in the region experienced significant disruptions, leading officials to recommend that travelers check for service updates before planning their journeys.
