US Stops Key Weapons Shipments to Ukraine Amid War

US Stops Key Weapons Shipments to Ukraine Amid War

The White House has decided to stop sending some important weapons and military supplies to Ukraine. These weapons were promised earlier to help Ukraine fight against Russia’s invasion.

Stopping these supplies will be a big problem for Ukraine. Right now, Ukraine is facing some of the largest missile and drone attacks from Russia in this three-year war.

A Deputy Press Secretary from the White House, Anna Kelly, said that this decision was made to put America’s interests first. She explained that the Department of Defense (DOD) checked America’s military help to many countries and decided to keep some weapons for its own use.

This decision also shows that US President Donald Trump may be changing his focus. He wants Russia and Ukraine to start peace talks soon. President Trump is now also spending time trying to stop fights between Israel and Iran and working on a ceasefire in Gaza.

The Pentagon, which is the US military office, found that America’s weapons stock had become too low because of earlier promises. So, some weapons that were supposed to be sent to Ukraine will now stay in America.

Anna Kelly said that America’s military is still very strong and no one should doubt it. She even mentioned Iran, saying that the recent US bombings of Iran’s nuclear sites proved America’s strength.

Some of the weapons being held back include missiles for Patriot air defense systems, special artillery shells, and Hellfire missiles. These are all important for Ukraine to protect itself from Russian attacks.

Last week, during a NATO meeting in the Netherlands, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke to President Trump about these Patriot missiles. Trump replied that they would try to send some but said these missiles are very hard to get.

When asked about why they are stopping the shipments, the Pentagon did not give a direct answer. However, Pentagon’s main spokesman Sean Parnell said that America’s military is ready and strong because of President Trump and Secretary Pete Hegseth’s leadership.

This decision will make Ukraine’s fight harder as they continue defending their country from Russia’s strong attacks.
