13 Children Injured After Car Crashes Into Thai Child Centre

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Thirteen children were injured after a car crashed into a child development centre in Muang district of Thailand’s Kanchanaburi province on Friday afternoon, police said.

The accident happened at around 12:30pm at the Ban Nong Song Child Development Centre in tambon Kaeng Sian. The children were taking their afternoon nap when the vehicle suddenly veered into the centre and struck the building.

According to police, the car was carrying two people at the time of the crash. Preliminary information indicated that the 54-year-old driver had a heart condition and may have lost consciousness before the vehicle went off course and crashed into the centre.

13 Children Suffer Injuries

A teacher told police that 34 children were at the child development centre when the accident occurred.

Of the 34 children, 13 were injured, with most suffering injuries to their heads. The other 21 children were not injured in the incident.

Local rescue workers from the Rattanavudh Foundation said that none of the injured children were in serious condition.

Rescue teams and emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and took the injured children to hospital for medical treatment.

Parents Ask for Alcohol Test

Parents of the children have asked police to carry out an alcohol test on the driver. They said the test would help ensure that all circumstances surrounding the crash are properly clarified.

Police are continuing to collect evidence and investigate what caused the vehicle to crash into the child development centre.
