Police have arrested a 14-year-old student in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old senior student at SMK Bandar Utama Damansara (4) yesterday. Authorities believe that the attack was deliberate and that the suspect intended to kill the victim, according to Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar.
Speaking to reporters, Shazeli said, “Based on the stab wounds, we believe there were indeed intentions to kill.” Investigators also revealed that the suspect had unexpressed feelings for the victim, but the victim was reportedly unaware of them. The two students were in different classes and of different ages, and police confirmed that they did not personally know each other.
During the arrest, police discovered a handwritten note believed to have been left by the suspect. The note, which has circulated widely on social media, reportedly included references to a mass school shooting in the US. “The note was found on the suspect during his arrest. We are investigating its contents,” Shazeli added.
The fatal incident occurred when the 14-year-old allegedly attacked the 16-year-old student multiple times with two sharp weapons, both of which were later confiscated by investigators. Petaling Jaya police chief Shamsudin Mamat confirmed that the suspect is in custody and that no other individuals were harmed during the incident.
While the exact motive is still under investigation, authorities have stated that there is no evidence of bullying involved at this stage. Police continue to gather information to fully understand the circumstances that led to this tragic attack.
The shocking incident has raised concerns among parents and school authorities about student safety and mental health, prompting calls for stricter monitoring and preventive measures in schools across the region.
