PETALING JAYA: A 16-year-old student was tragically killed at SMK Bandar Utama Damansara (4) on Monday morning after being stabbed multiple times by a 14-year-old fellow student, police confirmed.
Petaling Jaya police chief Shamsudin Mamat said authorities have confiscated two sharp weapons believed to have been used in the attack. No one else was injured during the incident.
The motive behind the stabbing is still under investigation. Police have stated that, at present, there is no evidence of bullying involved.
The attack reportedly occurred in one of the female toilets at the school. “A teacher heard a scream and tried to get help, but the incident had already taken place,” Shamsudin explained at a press conference outside the school.
The 14-year-old suspect, also a student at SMK Bandar Utama, will be remanded at the Petaling Jaya magistrates’ court tomorrow. “Both students knew each other, though they may not have been friends,” Shamsudin added. Statements are being taken from teachers and the victim’s classmates to understand the circumstances further.
The victim’s body has been sent to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for an autopsy. Authorities continue their investigation into this tragic school stabbing incident.
