At the MLB awards ceremony in Las Vegas, Texas Rangers' ace Jacob deGrom was awarded the American League Comeback Player of the Year. The 37-year-old, a two-time Cy Young Award recipient and ERA champion, has now added this prestigious title to his list of honors.
After undergoing Tommy John surgery, deGrom missed a significant portion of the 2023 and 2024 seasons. He made three appearances in September 2024 before returning to form in 2025, finishing the season with a 12-8 record, a 2.97 ERA across 30 starts, striking out 185 batters while allowing only 37 walks in 172 2/3 innings. This performance also earned him a fifth All-Star selection.
Ronald Acuna Jr. of the Atlanta Braves received the National League Comeback Player of the Year accolade. Following a torn left ACL that sidelined him for most of the 2024 season, Acuna made a triumphant return and hit .290 with 21 home runs and 42 RBIs in 95 games during 2025. He is the second consecutive Braves player to secure this honor, following his teammate Chris Sale.
Shohei Ohtani, who was recently named the National League's Most Valuable Player, also took home the Edgar Martinez Outstanding Designated Hitter Award for the fifth consecutive year. The Los Angeles Dodgers star put up impressive numbers this season with a .282 batting average, 55 home runs, and 102 RBIs, leading the league in total bases (380), slugging percentage (.622), and OPS (1.014). Additionally, he achieved his third Hank Aaron Award for best offensive player in the NL.
New York Yankees' Aaron Judge grabbed the AL Hank Aaron Award, finishing the season with a remarkable .331 batting average, 53 home runs, and 114 RBIs. He also led the league in on-base percentage (.457), slugging (.688), and OPS (1.144), marking his third win of this highly regarded award.
Milwaukee Brewers' general manager Matt Arnold made history as the first two-time recipient of the Executive of the Year Award after leading the Brewers to a top MLB record of 97-65. Boston Red Sox reliever Aroldis Chapman earned the Mariano Rivera Award as the AL's best reliever, tallying 32 saves with a 5-3 record and a 1.17 ERA. Edwin Diaz from the New York Mets received the Trevor Hoffman Award for NL’s top reliever, achieving 28 saves and a 6-3 record with a 1.63 ERA.
The 2025 All-MLB First Team included stars such as Aaron Judge, Shohei Ohtani, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Jose Ramirez. The Second Team featured notable players like Cody Bellinger, Kyle Schwarber, and Edwin Diaz. Both the Seattle Mariners and Philadelphia Phillies led in player selections, showcasing their remarkable performances throughout the season.
