A group of soldiers from China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) will go to Mongolia in the middle of June to take part in a big international peacekeeping exercise called “Khaan Quest 2025.” This was announced on Monday by Jiang Bin, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of National Defense.
The PLA soldiers were invited by Mongolia’s Ministry of Defense to join the exercise. Khaan Quest is a training event where soldiers from different countries work together to learn how to keep peace in conflict areas. It first started in 2003, with help from the Mongolian Armed Forces, the U.S. Pacific Command, and the United Nations. Since 2006, it has become a big international event.
Jiang Bin also said that from June 11 to 14, China will host the 20th meeting of the Experts' Working Group on Peacekeeping Operations. The meeting will be held in Nanjing, a city in Jiangsu Province, eastern China.
Countries that are part of the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus), along with the United Nations and the ASEAN Secretariat, will send people to the meeting. The goal is to build stronger trust between countries, improve safety, and help them work better together during peacekeeping missions.
