After months filled with rigorous training and extensive hours spent in classrooms, simulators, and the skies, 77 cadets reached a pivotal moment in their aviation careers during the sixth graduation ceremony of the Emirates Flight Training Academy in Dubai.
This event underscored the Academy's vital role in nurturing future pilots for Emirates and the broader aviation sector. With this latest cohort, the EFTA has celebrated over 300 graduates, many of whom are currently piloting or undergoing advanced training on Emirates' wide-body aircraft.
Attendees included high-ranking officials from the Emirates Group, graduates’ family members, friends, faculty, and fellow cadets. The ceremony showcased the airline's commitment to comprehensive, high-caliber pilot training, especially during a period of robust global demand for skilled flight crews.
Among the 77 graduates, 52 were from the UAE National Pilot Cadet Programme, while the remainder hailed from 15 different nations. This program is recognized as the UAE’s largest initiative aimed at cultivating Emirati pilots, providing extensive sponsorship and a direct pathway to flying Emirates aircraft upon completion of type rating.
EFTA employs an integrated training approach that merges academic study with advanced flight technology and leadership enhancement. Cadets transition from theoretical knowledge to practical flying, closely coordinating with Emirates' flight training division, ensuring their competencies align with the airline's operational standards and safety ethos.
Five cadets received accolades for exceptional performance during their training, while one cadet earned special recognition for consistent dedication throughout the program.
Located in Dubai South, the Academy boasts a residential facility designed to enhance focused training. Cadets reside on campus in private studio apartments, with access to sports and recreational amenities, allowing them to concentrate fully on their rigorous schedule without daily commuting.
Covering an area akin to 200 football fields, the EFTA campus includes state-of-the-art classrooms, full-motion flight simulators, a dedicated air traffic control tower, and its own runway. Training is backed by custom-developed software in partnership with Boeing, along with a modern fleet of 32 training aircraft.
Since its inception in 2017, the Emirates Flight Training Academy has played a crucial role in maintaining a consistent pipeline of well-qualified pilots, bolstering Dubai's standing as a prominent aviation hub and aiding in the sustainable growth of Emirates Airline.
