Abu Dhabi's Comprehensive Safety Inspection of Over 480 Educational Institutions

Abu Dhabi's Comprehensive Safety Inspection of Over 480 Educational Institutions

Post by : Badri Ariffin

In a significant move to bolster emergency preparedness, Abu Dhabi has initiated a comprehensive inspection initiative encompassing over 480 schools and nurseries aimed at enhancing safety standards within the education sector.

This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Emergencies, Crises and Disasters Management Centre Abu Dhabi, the Department of Education and Knowledge, and the Civil Defence Authority. Its primary objective is to evaluate preparedness levels while improving safety mechanisms in schools under ADEK.

The inspections included thorough evaluations of evacuation strategies, assessments of early warning systems, and examinations of the readiness of response personnel in educational institutions. Field drills were also executed to confirm adherence to safety guidelines and to gauge staff's emergency response abilities.

Officials indicated that these inspections form a part of a continuous, proactive monitoring framework that aims to bolster operational readiness across vital sectors, ensuring educational institutions are prepared for various emergency situations while securing a safe learning atmosphere for students.

His Excellency Mubarak Hamad Al Mheiri, the Undersecretary of ADEK, affirmed that the safety of students and staff is paramount. He emphasized that routine inspections, well-defined safety protocols, and effective collaboration with relevant authorities are critical in maintaining preparedness, reassuring parents about safety standards.

Brigadier Salem Abdullah Bin Barak Al Dhaheri, Director General of ADCDA, noted that these field assessments are part of a holistic approach that transitions preparedness from theoretical planning to practical implementation. He underlined that realistic evaluations aid in pinpointing gaps and enhancing response capabilities in schools.

Continuous oversight and practical evaluations are crucial in fortifying safety measures, ensuring the highest level of protection for both students and staff.

Matar Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director General of ADCMC, underscored that the education sector is an integral component of Abu Dhabi's overarching preparedness framework. He highlighted that consistent inspections and inter-agency coordination significantly enhance readiness to effectively manage various emergency scenarios.

Authorities affirmed that this initiative exemplifies a cohesive approach aimed at fostering prevention, enhancing coordination, and ensuring measurable readiness within the education sector. It simultaneously supports the continuity of educational activities and bolsters overall public safety in Abu Dhabi.
