The World Association of Kickboxing Organisations (WAKO), in partnership with the UAE Muaythai and Kickboxing Federation (UAEMKFED), has revealed plans for the Senior and Masters division of the World Kickboxing Championship in Abu Dhabi.
Scheduled from the 21st to 30th November 2025 at the ADNEC Arena, this championship will be the first of its kind held outside of Europe, positioning Abu Dhabi as a key player in global martial arts.
With participation from over 2,000 athletes representing 150 countries, this event promises to be the most extensive and inclusive kickboxing championship yet. Competitions will encompass both Tatami and Ring disciplines, as well as Masters and Para-Kickboxing categories, showcasing a variety of talent and abilities.
This nine-day championship will feature daily qualifiers, semi-finals, and finals, culminating in the Grand Finals and Awards on the 28th and 29th of November, with delegations departing on the final day.
The Opening Ceremony is set for Sunday, 23rd November 2025, at 17:00 at ADNEC Arena, and will feature global delegations and important dignitaries, highlighting the UAE's dedication to promoting combat sports worldwide.
The event promises a blend of cultural presentations, entertainment, and martial arts demonstrations, creating an unforgettable experience for participants and fans alike.
Competitors will showcase their skills across various disciplines during the championship, including point-based and full-contact events, allowing individuals of various styles to shine.
The Masters and Para-Kickboxing divisions emphasize the championship's commitment to inclusivity, celebrating athletes of all abilities while fostering fairness and sportsmanship.
Ali Khouri, a Board Member of UAEMKFED and Executive Board Member of WAKO, remarked on the significance of the championship for both Abu Dhabi and the UAE. He stated, “Hosting the World Kickboxing Championship in Abu Dhabi is a landmark achievement for our nation in organizing global sporting events. This will set a new benchmark in kickboxing history.”
Khouri further highlighted that this event signifies the UAE’s dedication to promoting peace, unity, and cultural understanding through sports while showcasing Abu Dhabi’s prowess as a prime host city.
The 2025 championship is anticipated to elevate Abu Dhabi’s status as a premier venue for international martial arts events. By bringing together athletes from across the globe, it fosters friendships, cultural exchanges, and professional growth in kickboxing.
Both participants and spectators are in for a quality sporting experience, emphasizing elite competition alongside the UAE’s commitment to innovation and excellence in event coordination.
