Air India Express has announced the full restoration of its flight services throughout the West Asia region, reintroducing routes to Kuwait and Salalah after earlier disruptions. This move enhances connectivity between India and the Gulf countries.
The airline confirmed that the Kozhikode–Salalah route resumed operations on July 2. Flights from Kozhikode to Kuwait are set to restart on July 3, followed by Bengaluru to Kuwait on July 4. Frequency for these services will gradually increase in the upcoming days.
Initially, the Kozhikode–Salalah route will operate bi-weekly, specifically on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Kozhikode–Kuwait service will start with one flight weekly beginning July 3, ramping up to three weekly flights by July 5.
Bengaluru-Kuwait flights will initially launch with one weekly flight starting July 4, followed by an increase to three flights weekly from July 7. Additionally, all flights to and from Kuwait will operate from Terminal 4 at Kuwait International Airport.
From July 3, Air India Express will also resume services from Muscat to Mangaluru. Currently, the airline operates around 40 flights weekly from Muscat to various destinations in India.
Earlier in April, Air India Express had revived operations to its UAE destinations and has since expanded its network with new routes, including Navi Mumbai–Abu Dhabi, Guwahati–Abu Dhabi, and Guwahati–Dubai alongside increased domestic and international flights.
The reintroduction of these services coincides with efforts to restore airline schedules in the Middle East, following disruptions related to the US-Israel-Iran conflict that affected several international routes.
With the addition of flights to Salalah, Air India Express now operates from two airports in Oman: Muscat International Airport and Salalah International Airport.
West Asia forms a vital part of Air India Express's international market. The airline now connects 13 destinations across Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, operating approximately 780 weekly flights between India and this region. These connections provide direct service from 18 Indian cities.
After the recent expansion, Air India Express will operate around 415 weekly flights from Bengaluru, connecting passengers to 30 domestic and seven international locations. Additionally, from Kozhikode, about 85 weekly flights are operational, linking to 13 destinations in West Asia and services to Bengaluru.
