On Tuesday, the Airbus A320 family of aircraft surpassed Boeing’s iconic 737 in total deliveries, marking a historic achievement for the European plane maker.

Airbus A320 Surpasses Boeing 737

The record-breaking delivery came when Saudi airline Flynas received an Airbus A320, bringing the total number of A320 family deliveries to 12,260. The A320 first entered service in 1988 and has since become a favorite for airlines worldwide because of its fuel efficiency, reliability, and flexibility.

For decades, Boeing’s 737 had held the record as the world’s most-delivered commercial plane. The 737 was introduced in 1968 and has been the backbone of many airlines’ fleets around the globe. Now, Airbus has taken the lead, reflecting the growing popularity of its A320 models among airlines.

Why the A320 is So Popular

The Airbus A320 family is known for its modern design and advanced technology. It is smaller than wide-body aircraft like the Airbus A350 or Boeing 787, which makes it ideal for short to medium-haul flights.
