The Ajman Department of Human Resources has launched a Legislative Innovation Lab aimed at refining the Executive Regulations of the new Human Resources Law, which takes effect on September 1.

This event gathered employees from various governmental sectors within the emirate, reflecting the department's commitment to enhancing institutional involvement by integrating government staff in the legislative process pertaining to human capital.

Focus of the New Human Resources Law on Flexibility and Well-Being

At the Innovation Lab, attendees explored essential aspects of the newly established Human Resources Law introduced by His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman.

Key topics discussed included the law's provisions aimed at enhancing workplace flexibility, fostering a balanced work-life dynamic, and extending support to diverse categories of government employees.

Aligning with Ajman Vision 2030

The Legislative Innovation Lab represents a strategic component of the department's plan to cultivate a more adaptable, efficient, and sustainable human resources framework.

This initiative aligns with Ajman Vision 2030, which seeks to craft a conducive work atmosphere that attracts talent while boosting government employees' professional quality of life.

Director General Emphasizes Employee Involvement

His Excellency Rashid Abdul Rahman bin Jabran Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Ajman Government Human Resources Department, underscored that the Innovation Lab signifies a crucial advancement in enhancing the government's human resources system through collaborative efforts.

He encouraged employees to actively engage in shaping the laws and policies that affect their work settings and career trajectories.

Al Suwaidi noted that meaningful and sustainable legislation arises from active dialogue, real-world insights, and preparation for changes in the workplace. He described the Innovation Lab as a platform to address challenges and convert employee suggestions into actionable advice that ensures the Executive Regulations reflect a modern work environment, enhance government employee experiences, and reinforce the Ajman Government's dedication to exemplary human capital management practices.

Key Discussion Points from the Innovation Lab

The discussions delved into significant topics surrounding the Executive Regulations, including:

  • Work patterns and scheduling

  • Recruitment procedures and job vacancies

  • Employee benefits and entitlements

  • Varieties of leave provisions

  • Employment permissions and measures to facilitate the workplace

Participants concentrated on identifying current challenges while seeking opportunities for improvement in these areas.

Interactive Sessions Yield Practical Solutions

The Innovation Lab incorporated interactive brainstorming segments where attendees brainstormed and formulated practical solutions geared towards effective implementation of the Executive Regulations.

These suggestions aimed to increase flexibility, improve efficiency, and promote sustainability in the governmental work environment while balancing operational requirements with employee expectations.

Diverse Representation Among Employee Groups

The department prioritized diverse representation by inviting employees with a variety of professional backgrounds and life experiences.

Participants included parents, retirees, HR professionals, individuals of determination, students, shift workers, young professionals, and entrepreneurs.

This wide-ranging participation enabled the department to gather varied insights while crafting the legislative framework.

Final Report to Enhance Executive Regulations

The Legislative Innovation Lab concluded with significant outcomes, including the identification of specific challenges and needs among the employee groups involved, collection of development proposals regarding the Executive Regulations, and preparation of a comprehensive report listing findings and recommendations.
