Akasa Air Set to Broaden International Flight Routes from Delhi

Akasa Air Set to Broaden International Flight Routes from Delhi

Post by : Rameen Ariff

New Delhi: Akasa Air, a budget airline, is gearing up to enhance its international services from Delhi, coupled with a strategy for quicker aircraft deliveries from Boeing, as shared by a senior official of the airline.

Since launching operations in August 2022, Akasa Air has developed a fleet of 30 aircraft, catering to 24 domestic and six overseas locations.

“International flights from Delhi are on the horizon,” stated Praveen Iyer, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Akasa Air, during a briefing in the capital. The airline is currently assessing potential routes to cities in Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, and Tashkent.

Already, Akasa Air services six international destinations, including Doha (Qatar), Jeddah and Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Abu Dhabi (UAE), Kuwait City (Kuwait), and Phuket (Thailand).

With 24 daily flights originating from Delhi, Iyer stressed the need for strategic growth while ensuring optimal load factors and competitive fares.

Having secured a firm order for 226 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, the airline has faced some delivery delays. However, with Boeing's ramped-up production, Akasa Air expects to receive aircraft more swiftly, thus accelerating its domestic and international expansion.

Iyer further commented, “We are thrilled about the growth trajectory of ancillary revenues,” highlighting that the airline strikes a balance between ticket prices and load factors to foster sustainable development.

Through its ambitious expansion strategy and fleet enhancement, Akasa Air aims to solidify its stature as an emerging competitor in the aviation sector, enhancing India's connections to global hubs.
