Arab Parliament Decries Israeli Attacks on Lebanon

Arab Parliament Decries Israeli Attacks on Lebanon

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, the Arab Parliament Speaker, has voiced his strong disapproval of the ongoing Israeli military actions in Lebanon, labeling them blatant violations of international law that jeopardize regional peace and civilian safety.

In a statement released on Monday, Al Yamahi expressed significant alarm regarding the escalating conflict, emphasizing concerning reports of civilian casualties, extensive destruction in crowded residential zones, and severe damage to vital infrastructure and public services throughout Lebanon. He pointed out that such military campaigns directly violate international humanitarian standards and contradict the principles laid out in the United Nations Charter.

The Arab Parliament Speaker cautioned that the current escalation might have serious implications for security and stability across the region. He highlighted that continual assaults on civilian areas and essential infrastructure could exacerbate the humanitarian crisis and intensify tensions in the Middle East.

Al Yamahi called on the global community, especially the United Nations Security Council, to take swift and decisive action against the attacks and ensure adherence to international resolutions. He urged international stakeholders to apply pressure on Israel to cease military operations and comply with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, which aims to maintain peace and security along the Lebanese-Israeli border.

Reiterating the Arab Parliament’s steadfast support for Lebanon, Al Yamahi emphasized the necessity of protecting the country’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. He also expressed support for the Lebanese state institutions and their efforts to uphold national security, ensure stability, and reinforce state authority throughout all sectors of Lebanon.

This statement highlights the increasing regional apprehension regarding the conflict’s impacts and stresses the urgent need for diplomatic actions to avert further escalation and safeguard civilian lives.
