Apple is gearing up to show off iOS 26 at its big WWDC event on June 9, and this year's iPhone update is expected to be anything but routine. From a totally fresh design to smarter AI features and new tools for everyday use, iOS 26 is shaping up to be a major shift — not just in looks, but in how your iPhone actually works.
A Whole New Look, Inspired by Vision Pro
Apple is giving iOS a dramatic makeover, said to be its biggest visual update in years. The design, codenamed Solarium, borrows ideas from the interface used on the Vision Pro headset — expect glassy, semi-transparent panels, floating elements, and smoother animations across the system.
App icons might also see a change. Apple could be softening its classic square-with-rounded-corners look, moving toward a more circular feel — but not quite all the way. Menus and navigation are also expected to become more minimal and fluid, with new ways to jump between features quickly.
iOS 26 is also rumored to include a new battery optimization feature powered by artificial intelligence. Instead of just giving you low-power modes, your iPhone will quietly learn how you use it and adjust things in the background — helping it last longer without you even noticing.
This tech is part of Apple’s larger AI push, known as Apple Intelligence. But it probably won’t be available on older iPhones — it's expected to need at least the iPhone 15 Pro or newer to work.
The Camera app is getting an upgrade too. It’ll look cleaner, run smoother, and include new gestures like swiping to reveal controls. The redesign is said to mirror the style of vision, with more polished transitions and more organized settings, making it easier to shoot on the go.
A standout new feature could be live translation with AirPods Pro. When used with an iPhone running iOS 26, your AirPods might be able to listen to someone speaking in another language, translate what they’re saying instantly, and read the translation back to you. It’s a feature that could really change how people travel or communicate across languages.
Logging into public Wi-Fi networks might finally get easier. A new feature in iOS 26 will let your iPhone remember those annoying splash-page logins and sync them across your other Apple devices. So once you connect on your iPhone, your iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch won’t ask you to log in again.
Apple is also working on a dedicated app called Apple Games, designed to bring everything game-related into one place. Think of it as a gaming hub — with news, leaderboards, achievements, and quick access to Apple Arcade. It may even support games installed outside the App Store on Mac, hinting at a more open gaming ecosystem.
iOS 26 will include several new tools for people with disabilities, including:
