UAE Unveils DAMITA: A Groundbreaking AI Counter-Drone Defence System

Calidus Holding Group, a prominent defence manufacturer in the UAE, has introduced DAMITA, the nation’s first comprehensive counter-drone defence system. This state-of-the-art technology is engineered to detect, track, and neutralize both AI-based drones and drone swarms, ensuring robust protection for urban areas, borders, military facilities, and critical assets.

Entirely developed within the UAE, DAMITA merges various autonomous defence capabilities into a unified AI-driven platform. It employs advanced detection, command and control, and whatever technologies required to effectively confront evolving drone threats. Its central AI command and control (C2) software streamlines actions and guarantees precise responses.

Dr. Khalifa Murad Alblooshi, the Managing Director and CEO of Calidus Holding Group, articulated, "With DAMITA, we are showcasing our prowess as a complete system integrator. Our integration of detection, AI-based control, and multiple defence methodologies into a single system means we now offer a reliable defence solution developed entirely locally."

DAMITA addresses the contemporary challenge posed by drones, particularly those enhanced with AI for autonomous navigation and precision targeting within contested environments. Its capability to counter both individual and swarm attacks marks its importance for future security operations.

Equipped with radar, full-spectrum RF scanners, and EO/IR sensors, DAMITA employs AI algorithms for precise identification, distinguishing drones from avian species. Upon threat detection, it can employ techniques such as electronic jamming, high-energy lasers, or advanced air-burst interceptors, employing both hard kill and soft kill measures to neutralize threats without causing collateral damage in urban settings.

The system boasts remarkable features, including a capability to intercept up to 20 drones per minute, a battery-operated laser for swift responses, and On-the-Move (OTM) functionality for continuous detection during movement. These attributes ensure that DAMITA maintains operational effectiveness in both static and dynamic situations, safeguarding sensitive sites.

Through innovation, autonomy, and scalability, DAMITA signifies a substantial advancement in drone defence technology. It empowers authorities and defence personnel to tackle the escalating menace presented by AI-enhanced drones and swarm formations. The system's adaptability, rapidity, and accuracy make it ideal for diverse security tasks, ranging from urban protection to safeguarding critical military infrastructure.

The rollout of DAMITA bolsters the UAE’s standing in high-tech defence solutions and underscores Calidus' dedication to crafting cutting-edge, locally-produced systems. This technology is poised to assume a key role in future security initiatives, safeguarding citizens, infrastructure, and national interests from emerging aerial threats.
