The Department of Rural Roads (DRR) in Thailand is moving forward with a major bridge construction project across Khlong Phra Phutth in Chanthaburi Province. The project is designed to improve transportation between Pong Nam Ron District and Soi Dao District while supporting local economic growth and agricultural trade in the Eastern region.
According to officials from the Ministry of Transport, the bridge project is currently more than 56 percent complete and is expected to be finished by February 2027. Once completed, the bridge will significantly reduce travel distance and travel time for local residents and transport vehicles.
For many years, people living in Ban Khlong Khot and Ban Samrong Lang villages faced major difficulties because they had to travel long detours of more than 20 kilometers to move between the two districts. The lack of direct connectivity caused delays, increased fuel costs, and made transportation of agricultural goods more difficult.
The new bridge will be around 100 meters long with two traffic lanes and a width of 9 meters. Authorities are also constructing a 1,930-meter connecting road with asphalt concrete surfacing, safety barriers, shoulders, and lighting systems to improve road safety for drivers and local communities.
Officials stated that the project will reduce travel time from nearly 30 minutes to only around 5 minutes. The bridge will also connect important highways including Highway 3210 and Highway 3193, making transportation smoother across the province.
Chanthaburi is known as one of Thailand’s key agricultural regions, especially famous for producing durian and longan fruits. Authorities believe the improved road connection will help farmers and traders transport agricultural products more quickly and efficiently to markets and export centers.
The Ministry of Transport said the project follows the government’s policy of improving rural infrastructure, increasing travel safety, and strengthening local economies. Better transportation links are also expected to encourage tourism, investment, and future development in surrounding areas.
With a total budget of around 43 million baht, the bridge project is seen as an important step toward modernizing transportation networks in Eastern Thailand and improving daily life for thousands of residents.
