Powerful storms, tornadoes, flooding and a landslide have caused widespread destruction across several regions of China, leaving at least 15 people dead. Hundreds of people have been injured while tens of thousands of residents have been evacuated from affected areas as emergency operations continue.
Authorities said severe thunderstorms and strong winds killed 11 people and injured more than 330 others in Hubei province. Nearly 4,800 homes were damaged, dozens of buildings collapsed and one person remains missing as rescue teams continue search operations.

In southern Guangxi, heavy rainfall linked to Typhoon Maysak triggered severe flooding that claimed at least four lives. More than 50,000 residents were evacuated after floodwaters inundated towns and villages, while several people remain missing.
A separate landslide in Gansu province killed five people and left several others missing. Rescue teams are continuing efforts to locate trapped residents as emergency workers search through debris and unstable ground conditions.
Chinese President Xi Jinping ordered authorities to carry out all-out rescue operations, stressing the importance of saving lives, treating injured victims and ensuring safe shelter for displaced residents. Officials have also been instructed to strengthen disaster prevention and relief measures.
Meteorologists described the storms as sudden and unusually intense, producing destructive winds and heavy rainfall within a short period. Experts continue to warn that climate change is increasing the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events across many parts of the world.
