China will hold a big military parade on September 3 in Tiananmen Square, Beijing to remember the end of World War II and victory over Japan. This parade marks the 80th anniversary of that important day.
President Xi Jinping will give a speech during the event. Many soldiers will march, and advanced weapons and technology will be shown. These include drones, cyber defense tools, underwater systems, and hypersonic weapons. The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) wants to show its modern strength and new fighting abilities.
This will be only the second time China holds this special parade, the last one was in 2015. China says the parade will remind the world of its role in defeating fascism during World War II and show its support for world peace.
Leaders from other countries, including Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and possibly Belarus’ President Alexander Lukashenko, will attend. China has invited other world leaders too, though not all names have been shared yet.
While veterans from the war are invited to watch, they will not march. Some helicopter rehearsals have already been spotted in the skies above Beijing, forming shapes like hearts and the number "80". New fighter jets, like the J-15T, may also appear.
This parade is expected to draw attention globally, especially at a time when many conflicts are happening around the world.
