Colombian President Gustavo Petro has vehemently denounced former US President Donald Trump’s anti-drug air operations, accusing him of engaging in extrajudicial killings that breach international law. According to Petro, these attacks on suspected drug-trafficking vessels have resulted in the deaths of at least 37 individuals, including a Colombian fisherman, in less than two months. The Colombian leader labeled Trump’s behavior a significant violation of international norms and reproached the US for encroaching on Colombia’s sovereignty.
Petro emphasized that Trump’s anti-drug actions indicate a blatant disrespect for both human life and national autonomy. He noted that the US has destroyed nine boats recently, which led to civilian casualties alongside the alleged traffickers.
