A fishing boat carrying 10 fishermen was rescued after it began taking on water in Da Nang Bay during the early hours of June 18. The vessel, identified as ĐNa 90981 TS, was returning from offshore fishing operations when the emergency occurred.
Distress Call Sent to Authorities
According to officials, the vessel was captained by Truong Thanh Son and had a crew of 10 fishermen on board. At around 2:30 a.m., the Son Tra Border Guard Station received an urgent distress report stating that the fishing boat was rapidly filling with water and was at risk of sinking.
Border Guard Launches Immediate Response
Following the emergency alert, the Da Nang Border Guard Command quickly activated a rescue mission. A rescue vessel with eight officers and soldiers from Border Guard Squadron 2 was dispatched to the scene within minutes to assist the distressed fishermen.
Rescue Team Reaches Vessel
After arriving at the location, rescuers immediately began emergency operations to stabilize the vessel. Teams worked to pump water out of the fishing boat and prevent it from sinking while ensuring the safety of all crew members on board.
Fishermen Brought to Safety
The swift response helped avoid a major maritime tragedy. All 10 fishermen were safely accounted for during the operation and remained unharmed as rescue efforts continued throughout the night.
Vessel Escorted to Harbor
After controlling the flooding, rescue teams successfully guided the damaged fishing vessel toward Tho Quang Harbor. The boat was brought safely ashore later that morning for further inspection and repairs.
Authorities Praise Rescue Effort
Officials praised the rapid coordination between border guard units and maritime rescue teams. The successful operation highlighted the importance of emergency preparedness and quick response capabilities in protecting fishermen working in Vietnam’s coastal waters.
