Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) has officially entered an agreement to lease two Boeing 737-8 jets to Somon Air, the national airline of Tajikistan. Scheduled for delivery in 2026, this partnership marks a significant milestone for both parties.
This arrangement aligns with the increasing demand within emerging markets for fuel-efficient narrowbody aircraft, aiding airlines in expanding their networks and minimizing operational expenses. The Boeing 737-8, recognized for its fuel efficiency and extended range, is a preferred option for modernizing fleets.
Firoz Tarapore, DAE’s CEO, expressed enthusiasm about welcoming Somon Air as a customer, stating the company is committed to fostering the airline's growth and establishing a long-term partnership.
Somon Air's CEO, Abdulkosim Valiev, noted that the addition of these new aircraft will facilitate the airline's expansion efforts, enhance operational efficiency, and bolster its business strategies. The airline has progressively expanded its regional and international reach, emphasizing the use of modern, efficient aircraft.
DAE stands as one of the foremost aircraft leasing entities globally, overseeing or holding commitments for approximately 750 aircraft, including 237 Boeing models. The company intends to further expand its fleet as global airlines increasingly favor leasing modern aircraft over purchasing them outright.
