David Beckham was formally invested as a knight by King Charles III in recognition of his contributions to football and his charitable work. The ceremony took place in Berkshire on Tuesday.
Beckham, wearing a tailored three-piece suit by his wife Victoria Beckham, attended the investiture with his parents, Ted and Sandra. The award acknowledged both his achievements on the pitch and his long-term philanthropic commitments.
Although Beckham is a co-owner of Major League Soccer club Inter Miami, he remains most closely associated with Manchester United, where he debuted for the first team in 1992 at 17. During his time at United he collected six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, two FA Charity Shields and the 1999 UEFA Champions League as part of the club’s historic treble.
He also spent four seasons with Real Madrid, finishing his spell there with a La Liga title. His club and international career earned him wide recognition for his technique, professionalism and leadership.
On receiving the honour Beckham said, "I’ve been lucky to have won things in my career and played for my country, and to captain my country. But this recognition means a great deal — not just for my career or the sport, but for the philanthropic work I do. I do that work because I love it and because it makes a difference, and to be recognised for it is very special."
"It’s lovely to have six Premier League titles and other medals, but this will take pride of place," he added.
Beckham made his England debut on 1 September 1996 at age 21, later captaining the national side for six years and earning 58 caps, leaving a lasting legacy as a midfielder and leader.
The knighthood underscores both his distinguished playing career and his sustained commitment to charitable causes, reinforcing his status as one of his generation’s most influential sports figures.
