On Saturday, the Delhi Police granted the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) the green light for a protest at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi. This demonstration seeks the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan due to the alleged NEET paper leak issue, raising alarms for students and parents nationwide.
The protest is spearheaded by CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, who returned to Delhi from the United States on Friday. Reports suggest that police officials met him upon arrival and permitted him to continue to the protest site at Jantar Mantar.
Initially, Dipke had instructed supporters to gather at the Parliament Street Police Station for permission. Following the police's approval, he redirected them to head straight to Jantar Mantar.
To ensure public safety and order, the Delhi Police has deployed around 2,000 personnel around the protest location and Central Delhi. Security measures have been enhanced to keep the demonstration peaceful and allow regular public activities to continue without disruption.
A flyer distributed at the venue reveals that the protest aims to demand transparency, justice for affected students, and the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. It claims that a petition for the minister's resignation has gathered over eight lakh signatures.
Launched on May 16 by Abhijeet Dipke as a satirical digital movement, the Cockroach Janta Party gained significant online traction amid a controversy surrounding comments related to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant. The movement quickly attracted millions of followers across social media.
The protest has garnered notable public interest, reflecting ongoing national concerns about examination integrity and student rights. Authorities are vigilantly observing the situation as protesters assemble to express their demands in the capital.
