Powered by a gripping narrative, the action film Dhurandhar featuring Ranveer Singh has made a remarkable entrance at the global box office. Within just four days, it has crossed the significant ₹190 crore milestone worldwide, impressing trade analysts and underscoring the allure of strong storytelling intertwined with star charisma.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film hit theaters last Friday, exhibiting impressive performance over its opening weekend and maintaining substantial traction even into its first Monday, a critical metric for gauging a film's longevity.
As per Jio Studios, the film garnered ₹130.80 crore net in India across its initial four days. Starting with ₹28.60 crore on opening day, it earned ₹33.10 crore on Saturday, followed by ₹44.80 crore on Sunday, and another ₹24.30 crore on Monday, demonstrating robust audience engagement even during weekdays.
Internationally, the film also saw notable success, accumulating approximately ₹42 crore from foreign markets during the same timeframe. This propelled its worldwide earnings to over ₹193 crore within just four days.
In its impressive run, Dhurandhar has already outpaced the lifetime collections of two other notable films released this year. Sikandar totaled ₹184.6 crore globally, with Thamma collecting ₹187.59 crore, showcasing Dhurandhar's swift ascent on the box office leaderboard.
The film is now eyeing its next target: Raid 2, which has a total collection of ₹237.46 crore. Given that Dhurandhar has effectively passed the pivotal Monday hurdle, industry experts predict a promising trajectory for the film as it aims to attain and possibly exceed this figure soon.
A significant factor contributing to the film's success is its stellar cast. Alongside Ranveer Singh, the film features prominent actors like Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi, each enhancing the narrative's depth and appeal.
Dhurandhar's storyline draws inspiration from real events, centering on a covert operation in Lyari, Pakistan, aimed at dismantling a perilous crime syndicate. Ranveer Singh takes on the role of Hamza Ali Mazari, also called Jaskirat Singh Rangi, delivering a widely praised performance.
The film has been penned, directed, and co-produced by Aditya Dhar, with backing from Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar under the Jio Studios and B62 Studios banners. The precision of direction and deft screenplay have retained audience interest throughout the viewing experience.
Excitingly, a sequel titled Dhurandhar 2 has been announced and is slated for release on March 19, 2026. The strong debut of the first part has elevated expectations for its follow-up.
In summary, Dhurandhar has illustrated that meticulous preparation, powerful performances, and an engaging plot can conjure box office success. Its early achievements signal that audiences are eager for content-centric action films, and if this momentum persists, the film may soon secure a spot among this year's top hits.
