DP World Enhances GCC Freight Services with Addition of 700 Trucks

DP World Enhances GCC Freight Services with Addition of 700 Trucks

Post by : Badri Ariffin

DP World has taken a significant step in expanding its road freight operations within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) by bringing in 700 new trucks. This strategic investment is designed to bolster transport capacity while enhancing cargo movement across the region, providing clients with improved reliability and efficiency in shipping.

This initiative is a vital part of the company's comprehensive plan to establish a fully integrated logistics network, seamlessly connecting ports, terminals, economic zones, and digital platforms. DP World’s goal is to ensure complete end-to-end supply chain solutions for businesses engaged throughout the GCC.

Fleet Capable of Executing Up to 35,000 Monthly Truck Trips

The newly integrated fleet will significantly bolster operations, capable of supporting up to 35,000 truck trips each month. The trucks are set to handle both domestic transportation and cross-border services for DP World’s clientele across the GCC.

This fleet will manage first-mile, middle-mile, and last-mile logistics, handling both containerized and non-containerized cargo. The anticipated expansion aims to enhance the speed and adaptability of land freight services in the region.

A Commitment to Sustainable Regional Development

Ahmad Yousef Al-Hassan, CEO and Managing Director of DP World GCC, indicated that this investment underscores the firm's long-standing commitment to fortifying its multimodal logistics framework.

He emphasized that their capabilities are expanding in response to the growing demand for logistics services across the GCC, allowing clients to utilize an integrated transport framework supporting every phase of the supply chain.

Eco-Friendly Fleet Enhancing Logistics Efficiency

Raveen Guliani, COO – Logistics, DP World GCC, mentioned that customers demand reliable and sustainable supply chain solutions.

He noted that the interconnected network of ports and warehouses facilitates the movement of goods, containers, vehicles, and perishable items across the region. The newly introduced trucks are designed for fuel efficiency and meet Euro V emissions standards, with plans to investigate green-energy vehicles in the future.

Gradual Integration of Trucks Within Current Operations

The rollout of the new trucks is being executed in phases across DP World’s logistics network. These vehicles are set to enhance the existing transport framework, which currently manages approximately 3,000 truck trips each day throughout the GCC.

Recent Advances in Logistics Across the Region

Recent months have seen DP World rolling out various initiatives aimed at optimizing regional cargo transit. These initiatives include establishing fast-track bonded corridors that efficiently link east coast gateways directly to Jebel Ali Port, the launch of a bonded passage connecting Sohar in Oman, and the use of Red Sea transport routes through Jeddah Islamic Port’s South Container Terminal.

These logistics advancements have allowed the company to successfully transport over 350,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) overland in light of disruptions to maritime shipping routes.

Expanded Fleet for Increased Flexibility

With the introduction of 700 new trucks, DP World is significantly enhancing its road freight capabilities across the GCC. This larger fleet will offer clients quicker, more adaptable land shipping options while improving port-to-door deliveries and urgent cargo handling. The investment also strengthens the resilience of regional logistics and supply chain mechanisms.
