Progressive metal stalwarts Dream Theater will headline a special Dubai concert as they mark 40 years together. The band's celebrated lineup—James LaBrie (vocals), John Petrucci (guitar), John Myung (bass), Jordan Rudess (keyboards) and Mike Portnoy (drums)—are slated to perform an extended three-hour programme, complete with a dedicated interlude that highlights the technical precision and inventive arrangements that define their music.
Across four decades the group has built an international following, earned three Grammy nominations and secured the 2022 Grammy for Best Metal Performance. With over 15 million records sold, Dream Theater are renowned for complex songwriting and high-level musicianship that continue to draw devoted audiences worldwide.
The Dubai appearance coincides with the release of their sixteenth studio album, Parasomnia, the first record the full lineup has produced together since 2009's Black Clouds & Silver Linings. The 71-minute set includes tracks such as Night Terror, A Broken Man and Dead Asleep, and closes with the 19-minute centerpiece The Shadow Man Incident.
Guitarist John Petrucci said the band is looking forward to the show: “We’re marking our 40th anniversary, celebrating Parasomnia and welcoming Mike Portnoy back on stage. It promises to be an unforgettable evening for fans in the region.”
Ticket pre-sales begin on November 7 at 8:30 am, with general sales starting November 10 at 8:30 am. Prices range from AED 225 to AED 575. Dream Theater previously visited Dubai in October 2017 during their 25th-anniversary tour, and fans can expect another evening of ambitious progressive metal.
