The Dubai Chamber of Commerce has successfully wrapped up its trade mission to Ethiopia, which included a remarkable 510 business meetings in Addis Ababa aimed at fostering connections between Dubai-based firms and Ethiopian enterprises.
These meetings opened avenues for collaboration across key industries such as automotive, construction, electronics, engineering, FMCG, food and beverages, interior design, mining, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and ready-made garments.
This year marked the highest tally of B2B meetings since the introduction of the Chamber’s “New Horizons” initiative in 2023, designed to bolster the international presence of Dubai companies and enhance global trade ties.
The Dubai Chamber also organized the ‘Dubai–Ethiopia Business Connect’ forum, in collaboration with the UAE Embassy in Ethiopia, the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce, and other local entities. This forum drew 669 participants, including government officials, business leaders, and international representatives, all eager to discuss investment opportunities and deepen trade relations.
Among those in attendance were notable figures such as H.E. Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, alongside various Ethiopian officials, emphasizing the collaborative spirit of the event.
H.E. Lootah reaffirmed the chamber's dedication to enhancing economic relations between Dubai and Ethiopia, advocating for new avenues in the private sector, which would fuel Dubai’s continued growth in non-oil foreign trade.
In a strong indication of growth, non-oil trade between Dubai and Ethiopia surged to AED 22.3 billion in 2025, representing a staggering year-on-year growth of 236.6%.
Additionally, the forum saw 91 emerging Ethiopian companies join the chamber in the first quarter of 2026, raising the total number of active Ethiopian members registered to 1,676 by the end of March 2026.
During the event, the Dubai Chamber highlighted the advantages of doing business in Dubai, positioning it as a strategic entry point for Ethiopian firms looking to expand into regional and global markets. Meanwhile, officials from the Ethiopian Investment Commission discussed available investment opportunities.
The trade mission featured a delegation from 21 Dubai-based companies across various sectors, underscoring the growing economic friendship between Dubai and Ethiopia.
