The second edition of the Dubai Premier Padel P1 wrapped up yesterday at Hamdan Sports Complex, marking a significant event in the international padel calendar. With world-class athletes competing in front of enthusiastic crowds, the tournament set a new benchmark for sporting events within the UAE, emphasizing Dubai's aim to solidify its position as a global sports center.
After a week filled with gripping matches, Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello emerged victorious in the men’s category, while Claudia Fernandez and Bia Gonzalez took home the women’s title. The finals boasted high-octane performances before a crowded audience at Hamdan Sports Complex. Bia Gonzalez was honored with the Oysho MVP Award for her outstanding contributions, and Agustín Tapia received the DAMAC MVP for his excellence on the court.
His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, was present to award the trophies to the champions. Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum Juma Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Padel Association, also celebrated the tournament's success alongside players, officials, and fans.
Under the patronage of Sheikh Mansoor, the tournament was facilitated by Gallop Global in partnership with the Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), and UAE Padel Association (UAEPA). This year's event has solidified its status as a prominent fixture on the international sporting calendar, drawing elite players from around the Premier Padel circuit.
The Hamdan Sports Complex underwent a significant upgrade for the tournament, transforming its 10-lane Olympic swimming pool into a padel venue that seated 8,000 spectators, making it the largest indoor padel facility in the MENA region. The new arrangement featured four professional-grade courts, enhancing facilities for fans and the media alike. This transformation highlights Dubai's ability to adapt infrastructure to fulfill the demands of high-stakes international sports.
Ivan Modia, CEO of Gallop Global and Tournament Director of Dubai Premier Padel P1, remarked, “The Dubai Premier Padel P1 reached unprecedented heights this year. The packed arenas and vibrant fan engagement underscore how Dubai is quickly emerging as a premier hub for world-class sports and entertainment. The transformation of the Hamdan Sports Complex into the largest indoor padel stadium in the MENA region exemplifies what Dubai can accomplish when ambition meets creativity. This tournament has set a new standard for the sport, and we proudly contribute to the growth of padel in the UAE and beyond.”
The tournament gathered top international talent, underscoring the growing appeal of padel and Dubai's status as a premier sports destination. Spectators experienced thrilling matches, remarkable athleticism, and an electrifying environment throughout the event.
With the success of this year's event, the Dubai Premier Padel P1 is scheduled to return in 2026. It will continue to be a flagship event in the Middle East and a vital stop on the Premier Padel global tour, promoting the sport and reinforcing Dubai's reputation as a world-class sporting city.
