A tragic incident has shocked Bali after a Dutch national was fatally stabbed in the popular tourist area of Kuta, prompting a full-scale police investigation.
According to authorities, the victim, a 49-year-old man identified as RP, was attacked late Monday night near a villa in Kerobokan Village, North Kuta. The assault reportedly took place while he was walking with his girlfriend, who later became a key witness in the case.
Police said two unidentified assailants arrived on a motorcycle before launching a sudden and violent attack using a sharp weapon. The victim sustained multiple stab wounds and collapsed at the scene. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after due to severe blood loss.
Officials from Badung Police confirmed that several pieces of evidence have been collected, including a weapon believed to have been used in the attack, personal belongings, and other materials from the scene.
However, investigators noted a lack of CCTV coverage in the immediate area, which may complicate efforts to identify the suspects. Preliminary descriptions suggest one attacker wore an orange shirt, while the other was dressed in a jacket linked to an online ride-hailing service.
Authorities have launched a manhunt and are working to reconstruct the timeline of events. The victim’s family has filed an official report, and police have assured that all efforts are being made to apprehend those responsible.
The incident has raised fresh concerns about tourist safety in one of Indonesia’s most visited destinations, though officials stress that such violent crimes remain relatively rare.
Investigations are ongoing as police continue gathering evidence and questioning witnesses to bring the perpetrators to justice.
